Home Is Where the Heart Is

I've finally arrived in the city that I will call home for the next 9 weeks, Mahasarakham. My prayer is that for this period, as short or long as it can seem, this would really feel like home so that my heart would be here. I've been asking God to really give me a heart for these people. To give me a love for them. So as everything gets going, I want this mind set to continue. When we get busy, I want to remember that this is the goal, to show these people the love of the creator God, Christ Jesus.

The first day in our city was pretty relaxed. We went around the city a bit, went to the store, had dinner with both families as well as two Thai girls who are going to help us learn some of the language. After dinner they came to our apartment and taught us many basic things we'll need to get around. They also came the next morning. They are both really sweet girls and will be around this summer a lot hopefully.

We'll start teaching english at the university next Tuesday. We have a schedule laid out of several days of the week that we will be there. We are trying some different methods of teaching including in the classroom, setting up conversation booths, and breaking into smaller groups. Through these groups, and other meetings, we hope to be able to build relationships and be able to share the hope and joy that we have. It's gonna be good.

There are still many mixed emotions involved in this whole process. Nervousness, excitement, uncertainty, joy, inadequacy. . . However, I am also trying to live with an expectancy that God is able to do far more than I can foresee or imagine, and I don't want to get in the way. I want to be a vessel that He using to share Truth and spread His fame..
