I can't believe our first full week is over. And when I say full, that's in the most literal sense. We have a pretty jam packed schedule with even more to come. But, it's gonna be fun. Here's a synopsis of our first week and what each week will kind of look like.
Sunday: Sunday's are not set in stone yet. There's the possibility of us having our own worship service here at the center that maybe some our friends can come to eventually, and there a service in Thai that Scott and Valerie are involved with at 5:00 pm. I'm not sure that we will always go to that on every week. It's small, and in Thai, so we don't want our presence there to be a hindrance rather that a help. Rich also wants have a worship service with us in English, so that could be what our morning woship becomes.
Monday: We have two classes to teach at Mahasarakham University for English Education majors. One from 10-11 and the other from 1:30 to 2:30. From 11- 1:30 we will normally hang out with eat lunch with students.
Tuesday: While the others have a class of English majors to teach, Josh and I will be with Rich at another university in the city called the Rajabhat University. This is a new ministry area so our time there is focused on meeting students and hopefully eating lunch with them. Also, we would like make contacts there to possiobly start a more structured volunteering opportunity there like we have at MSU. Rich also does a sports ministry in the evening that we all can participate in regularly.
Wednesday: Wenesdays haven't fully formed yet because we are seeking to builkd relationships with the Pharmacy faculty at MSU. So, the 6 of us rotate on this day between a class in the morning, a class in the afternoon, free English conversation groups, and a new thing we're trying of an English conversation booth. All this is from 10:30-4pm.
Thursday: This day is pretty much like Monday. Two classes of English Education majors. One from 10-11, and one from 4:30 to 5:30.
Friday: On Fridays me and Josh are with Rich at the Rajabhat again with a pretty similar goal as Tuesday. However, we will be having a Bible Study before going to the university with a Christian Thai named Pop.
Saturday: This may be our day off. =)
So, this is the shell of our schedule. We hope to fill in the hours with "life groups" which will be conversation opportunities for the students in a small group setting where we'll discuss life principles like family or forgiveness. This will hopfully lead to full out Bible studies with the students we're meeting in the classes. We have had the opportunity to hang out with several of the students outside of the classroom, which has been great. Such sweet peopel.
Another big thing coming up really soon is English Camp. This will be on June 26th and 27th. It will be a lot of Ebglish practice for the students, and they'll be in teams, have competition and games while being taught Bible stories which we'll discuss in our teams and small groups. So, be praying that we will get going on planning so that everything is organized and just a really good experience for these students. Also be praying for the hearts of the students. Ask for an openess to what we teach.
It's been a good, and tiring, week. Already 2 weeks have gone by and I can hardley believe it. Pray for our team, that we would be covered in a joy that would be a light in the darkness.
