Spain, Rain, and the Main Thing

This week started with a really late night of watching the World Cup final. It was pretty awesome because of two reasons. 1: Me and Stephanie watched the game at our friend Kook's apartment with her and our other friend T. So that alone was fun. 2: Kook has internet so I was able to talk to some people and watch the world cup with my sister in South Asia, my friend in Texas, and some friends at home. It's crazy to watch a soccer game with people all over the world. Pretty cool. What was the world cup like in America? It was a pretty big deal here.

This week was covered in rain, praise the Lord. Since it rained so much the weather was much cooler, and they have really needed the rain over here. Being the rainy season, it is supposed to rain almost everyday, but it hasn't been. The farmers are needing to plant the rice, but the lack of rain has been

a problem. Thus, seeing rain almost everyday this week was a most welcomed blessing.

Also this week, our friend took a few of us to get our hair washed and cut. And when I say washed, I mean it! I think they must have washed my head/massaged my head for 20 minutes. It was pretty wonderful. I don't think my hair has been that clean in my life! It was a lot of fun. They dried our hair straight, which hasn't been done all summer because of the humidity making it pointless. However, just as they were finishing…down comes the rain! Hah. It was around 9 pm at this point, too late for our normal mode of transportation, so we weren't too sure what we were going to do, when the next thing we know, one of the girls who cut our hair started cleaning out her backseat, in the rain, to take us home. We could not believe how sweet that was! I can't ever see that happening in America. These people are just so sweet.

I also had another fun time with a friend doing aerobic dance this week. At random places all over town there will be free aerobic dance, and lots of people come out for it. It's pretty fun, and hard. Mo wonder these people are so skinny!

The main thing though is a friendship that is developing with a girl at the Rajabhat University. On Friday I got a chance to begin sharing the gospel with her but got interrupted and didn't get finished. So, I am praying for another opportunity to share with her and expecting God to work through what I did get to share. Also, I love just spending time with her. She is a second year English major whose very eager to learn more. She is a lot of fun to talk with and help with English. I'm just hoping to have more opportunities to get to know her better and share more with her, even though I don't have too many more times to see her. I think she will also be coming to our second English, which will be July 31st and August 1st, so you can be lifting both of those things up.

Another interesting thought I had this week was on how our varying perspective brings different understandings to situations. It's funny to me that my team's perspective right now can sometimes be.."we only have 3 weeks left, we're running out of time, are we going to see anything happen?" But, how many one-week trips have we been on where we really know and expect to see God move and work? So, our perspective should really be, "Wow, we still have 3 weeks left!" I know it's going to go by fast, but I am praying that I will live with an expectancy to see just what God can do in the three weeks we have here in Thailand.
