As the weeks keep flying by, I'm trying to hang on to every minute I have, I'm excited to get to share about these adventures with everyone and am glad to have the thoughts and prayers of so many.
As always, the week was packed full of fun! A couple highlights included getting to eat pizza, a hamburger, a sandwich, and French fries all in one week. Don't worry, I had my fare share of rice as well. We're never in want of rice.
Apart from food, there were many other highlights for sure. This week we had several opportunities to hang out with our friends. We got to go swimming with a friend, but not in the afternoon because "it is too hot to go then." We tried to explain that in America we go to the pool when it it hot, but just as we always want our skin to get darker, they always want their skin to get lighter, so they stay out of the sun as much as possible, therefore all the seating area around the pool is covered. It was still really nice though. Also, we got to celebrate our friend's birthday, which was fun as well.
We were able to have a couple times of worship this week that were really good. Our own church and Thai church were both good, and two of our friends came to Thai church, which was exciting. On Wednesday, Valerie is having a bible study with us, and hopefully some students, at the school after we teach. One girl came toward the end of our worship time, so we continued to worship with her for a little longer, which was good. The tough part is when we try to sing it in Thai, it's fun to try though and really cool. Every Friday Rich, Josh, and I meet with a guy and have a bible study. He is a believer, so that is encouraging to meet with him.
Also, we finally have made some progress at the other university, The Rajabhat Univeristy. There are several student we are going to start meeting with to teach English. This Friday two guys showed up Rich had started sharing last time, and this time we got to share the rest of the gospel with them. We used this method called "Two ways to live" which I think is pretty effective. One of the guys was pretty interested, but still didn't completely understand, but we will continue to see them each week, so be lifting that up! There are also a few girls that will be meeting us as well. This week we ate lunch with them and had a fish. Not fish, a fish. Head, tail, eyes, fins….but it was good!
Our weekly party was a lot of fun this week. There were several students who hadn't come yet that were there, so it was good to see new faces and hang out with more people.
The main event of the week, however was Under the Sea English camp on Saturday and Sunday. It was so great and so much fun. We had around 45 students who came and they were awesome. We divided up into 4 teams: The Whales, The Fish, The Dolphins, and the Sharks. My team was the sharks. We didn't win, but we were definitely fierce. We taught Bible story lessons of Noah, Jesus Calming the Storm, and Jesus walking on Water. We had small group discussion times afterwards which gave the students a chance to open up a bit. There were many good questions and discussions in each team. We also had fun playing games. One interesting game was to shave a balloon with a razor. I was holding my team's balloon and the very first person to go popped it, and I was covered with shaving cream. Luckily, it was caught on film. =) Josh and I got to lead music several times as well, which was a lot of fun. The students all really enjoyed the weekend and hopefully it will lead to better friendships, which will lead to one-on-one discussions that go deeper. These students are so sweet and so awesome. I can't wait to get to know them better! Please be remembering these students!
