So, tomorrow I fly out to Guaimaca, Honduras. Unfortunately a lot of the excitement of going has been overshadowed by a fun and exciting week...with swine flu. Being the "busy" people we all tend to be, having to just stay at home and rest for 3-4 days is really hard, and at times frustrating. Especially when you are a worship leader and have to miss a service that is only music and prayer, which you've been planning for, and looking forward to for about a month. There was also the issue that God used to show me that He is perfectly capable to do what He wants to do without me. I actually was worried that the service might not go on without me there...I know, it's comically to think that I actually had myself believing that. No wonder God let me be bed ridden for a few days before leaving to serve Him so that I could step back and see that it's all about Him, definitely not about what I can do.
So, with the flu finally on the out, I'm feeling much more ready and excited to go. I know God has some cool things awaiting us there. I'm also excited to get closer to the members of the team going. The group is made of members from my college ministry at Price Avenue Baptist Church and some folks from the Wesley Foundation. I think it's awesome that God has brought his church together for this trip and we are working as one, instead of separately, to further His kingdom. I'm excited. It's official. I know, too, that just like every mission type trip I've been on, I'm not just going to be a blessing (hopefully), I'm going to receive a blessing. People are really cool. And different cultures are really cool to understand and experience.
Love God. Love People. It's time.
